So we had great field trip plans for President's Day.......we were going to visit the Kiwi Bakery in Magna for some great Fish and Chips, Meat Pies and other NZ treats.....so we called the number we had since it was a holiday and they might be closed, well the phone was temp disconnected, but we were up for the adventure. So 45 minuets later we pull up at the bakery only to discover that they are closed on Sunday and Monday, even when there is no holiday. To bad for us we will have to venture out there on another day. So even thought my mouth was all set for Fish and Chips, we by passed fish and Chips since Hayden is not a fan, but he would have eaten the chips and a meat pie had our adventure worked out. Anyway we made our way back to SLC and Gary said lets go for an other international adventure and eat at Bruges, waffles and friets....I said no, since the building is so small and we had waffles on Sunday so to appease all we ended up eating good old fashioned Americana at Hires. YUMMM!!! Root Beer Floats, Hamburgers and hand cut fries with fry sauce...perfect.
We will adventure another day.

I am the Best Mom
I am the best MOM ever...just ask Nelson who has been craving his New Zealand goodies.
When Nelson wants a soda he keeps telling us about the best sodas ever - Bundaberg Ginger Beer, Peachee and Lemon Lime and Bitter (non-alcoholic). He then talks non stop about real meat pies and chicken salt for his "fush and chups." He complains about the fake Tim Tams produced by Peppridge Farms......and will eat 4 lbs of kiwi fruit, skin and all in a week. Last night to help his cravings we made homemade fish and chips...no chicken salt....... we are working on making them better. Also last night on line we also discovered the Kiwi Bakery in Magna. They make real meat pies, sausage rolls, fish & chips, cream buns, and other NZ treats. (we will be taking a trip out there in the near future).
But Today I am the champion....at World Market we found the Bundaberg Ginger Beer & Peachee.......no Lemon Lime & Bitter, but Arnott's cookies, as in real Tim Tams, and also Mint Slice Cookies (better than a Girl Scout Thin Mint).
Oh what you won't do to keep your kids happy.

FridYEAH!!!
This week zipped by...I can't believe it is already Friday February 6th.....on the other hand I am so glad it is Friday I want to shout "Thank You, the weekend has arrived!"
I love weekends. For the most part I disconnect myself from my regular life and step into my fun weekend life. On the weekends I cook less, I don't think about work, I work on my pet projects, I go out to movies, I dress how I want, I let me be me and do what I want to do...even if it is just sitting around reading a good book. On the weekend I can let my house fall apart around me and it is okay!
No plans for this weekend and we will get the theatre responsibility out of the way on Friday night so Saturday is mine, all mine. Maybe I will do some window shopping...or surfing, whatevs....
Melinda on her blog (sickofmychub.blogspot.com) was talking about never being satisfied with what she orders when she eats out. I understand her....I haven't had a satisfying , delicious meal when eating out for a very, very long time. I can name only a handful or favorite eating experiences...top of mind, as always, was a salmon macadamia nut dish I had at Tavern on the Green in NYC, it was so good I wanted to lick the plate. I had some wonderful Asparagus Risotto in a little place outside of Parma Italy. I use to like to eat at Christophers when it was in Bountiful. I will also choose Macaroni Grill because I can usually find something there that tastes good to me. But most places I eat out at don't really hit the spot....probably because I don't let myself go and order what I really think sounds delicious. I will usually get what is supposed to be good for my current diet.........Maybe this will be the weekend when I order what I really want off the menu and not what I think I should have....I will let myself go and enjoy!
YEAH for Friday! I love it!

Super Bowl Sunday...and other stuff.
Gary and I just finished meeting with a web site designer who is helping us do a web site for the Movie Theatre...it won't be terribly fancy, but it will allow you to find out what is playing and when. We really liked Fred the designer. He is a local guy who started to design web sites as his retirement job....he plans on retiring to Hawaii...I could only wish. Anyway the website should look great when we are done with it. (I am so glad Gary was at the meeting with me...I have no clue about this stuff and he knows so much, which was great. He could communicate smartly with Fred).
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
It won't be the same without Nelson. We are having the family over to watch...we are serious watchers....oh yah.,we are Tivoing it so we can go back and see the plays and commercials. But what to eat.....I found a recipe on A Bountiful Kitchen.blogspot.com (this blog is written by Si...she is an excellent cook). The recipe is for 'Hot Wing Dip'. Gary says make it,I personally don't really like hot wings, but the boys do. So there is one menu item. I think the food is half of the fun for Super Bowl.
I that the Pittsburgh Steelers and The Arizona Cardinals are playing and that the Cards are the underdog, who has never won a Super Bowl. Go Cards....we want Kurt Warner to win over Ben Rothelsberger....If you have never heard Kurt Warner's story, you should check it out, it should be made into a movie. (I Know Jordan isn't to fond of Kurt, but hey,he did win a Super Bowl for St. Louis...Jordan)
Back to the food.....I will probably go with the traditional, chips and dip and veggies and dip for us dieters. Maybe some BBQ beef sandwiches........
Off to the store to see what strikes my mood.....oh, Gary's coming with me, that means we could be eating almost anything.
