Trip to the Land!

I know it's about time.....
We have had several people amazed that we went to Disney Land and that our kids are little or teenage kids..... Wow, how old are they? We all love Disney and love the whole experience.
It was fun to be with captain awesome, the Ry Guy. He loved it all and had favorites. He likes the spinning rides but his favorite was Astro Blaster or the Buzz Lightyear ride. If he were tall enough he would probably change it to the Lightning McQueen car ride (which is like the test track at Epcot for those in the know) It is so movie like and a fast car ride  isn't half bad.
My Fav has always been the Big Thunder Railway roller coaster, but for some reason this time the Tower of Terror was a very close second for me.
We all had fun in the Big"A" Van.....all except for the ride home which took 3 hours too long due to accidents....however we made the most of it.
Here are some pics of the trip.

MMMMMMM My Red Wagon Corn Dog!

this bear was giving us a bad time and driving Ry nuts. He wouldn't have anything to with him even when Nels and Hay were having fun.

I bought us all the preferred seating and show package for Fastasmic. It comes with a desert box and all you can drink soft drinks, hot cocoa and coffee.  It was fancy smancy and was worth doing once in your life.  That cookie thing was one of the best cookies I have ever eaten and is only made for the dessert box...we asked several people who confirmed this truth....it is a very buttery raspberry filled shortbread cookie, and there were no seconds.
Loving Micky! he was so unsure of all of the other characters that this was too cute.

I'm Still Here

It's leap day so I have and extra 24 hours to catch up......wouldn't that be grand, to have a day that existed, but you didn't have to do your regular routine and you wouldn't get behind for not working in the present, but an extra 24 hours to get caught up a bit/
I still don't have time but the wind, weather and the days plans have changed from what should have happened so I do have a few hours that have opened up to do what ever. And what usually happens when I find myself with time on my hands, I don't do the catching up, I just do more of the what gets me behind activities....I am so predictable.

February Recap
- I have be much more proactive with getting some much needed household project done every morning. Yes the projects are small like only a cupboard or two, but you can only eat an elephant a bite at a time so I feel like I am progressing.

- I am making re-decorating plans right and left but the cash is slipping through my fingers towards unplanned for projects faster than I can pin it down on the fun things.....but a girl can dream and someday it will happen.  Kitchen, yard and a house face lift.

- Gary and I spent Presidents Day weekend in Carmel, California with Gary's mom Mary, his brother Jeff, his wife Lisa and Gary's aunt and uncle, Phil and Gloria at their home. It was a very nice time. The Horsley's were wonderful host and feed us well.

- My February goal of telling more people that I love them, that they matter to me has been a good goal. Of course I started with a bang and things wound down a bit but I did commit to something and I am ready for another month of focus. Thanks again to Melinda for her inspiration.

I will try to be more active at blogging. It is a great journal if nothing else.

Forever Families

My good friends nephew was one of the missionaries killed in Texas this week. This lose has once again made me think and be grateful for family.
It is sad to loose someone we love from this side of the veil, but just like every time I am touched by death I am so thankful for the gospel, our Saviors sacrifice for us, the knowledge we have of the plan of salvation and for the opportunity we have of sealing us together in forever family groups........
Pam and her family are sad, just like we are sad with the recent passing of Bill and other loved ones, but the knowledge that they are here, just on the other side and that if we work hard on our own salvation that we can continue to be together forever gives me a sense of comfort and peace.
"Forever" is our families daily cheer at the end of family prayer. This reminder of what we are playing for helps keep me focused on the best things each day. I love my family. It would be sad to think that the family groups we establish in this life would be devolved in the next.
Playing for forever families is such an awesome blessing.

Braves Win

Bountiful won it's quarterfinal football game on Friday. They played Olympus and won 34-14.
All day long I had people asking me if Hayden was going to play.......let's go back to last Fridays game against Timpanogos.....3 minuets left in the game and smash Hayden is limping, knee bent and he can hardly put his foot down on the ground. He is standing in the huddle, but we can tell he is not right. But I know he is determined to play and shake off whatever. Then Bountiful calls a time out; what a blessing. During the time out Hayden tells me that he heard a voice saying take yourself out and let Dave play. So he limps off the field and lays down on the sidelines so that Bob can look at his injury......he doesn't go back in the game and has to be helped off the field to the locker room. He tells me that he is going to be fine, but I can see the tear stained cheeks. Jordan and Nelson check things out with Bob who tells them that it is probably his MCL and that he will check him out before he comes home......yes it was the MCL, a level one = a small tear. Hayden is in a lot of pain. The tears aren't for the pain but because he couldn't finish the game and it hits him that this could be his last BHS football game ever.....  Later that night Hayden gets a priesthood blessing form his brothers and tells me that 1/2 way through the blessing he felt the pain diminish by more than half.
Now fast forward through Football practice, doing his Eagle Service Project, Halloween Parties, Sunday duties, etc.... Monday morning was spent at 3 different Doctors trying to decide if it is only the MCL......after several examinations, an MRI, and getting a brace that he can play football in, he was cleared to play on Wednesday if he did a recommended physical therapy.
So Yes, he played all but the last 1:30 of the game. He was key in the amazing running game that Braves played Friday night.
As the mom I worried and watched his braced leg all night long, noticing the slow get ups when he was down and worrying that something might happen to deepen the injury.....Jordan and Nelson kept telling me to quit worrying, that he was fine.....he was fine. He reminded me after the game that he listened to the Spirit last week and took himself out of the game and that he had received a Priesthood blessing.......silly mom.

Thursday, November 10, 11:00 am at Rice Eccles Stadium, BHS will play Logan in a semi-final game on the road to take State!

Bear Lake 2011

Bear Lake week was a lot of sitting around and doing nothing...as Nelson said "I signed up to sit on the beach and do nothing....and that is what I am doing." We had a nice time together. I was luck to eventually have my whole family with us...from Gary down to Ry guy...and then there was the extended Cole Family, we were only missing 5......pretty good turn out. It was fun doing the family trivia. I was glad to know all the answers and that my kids now know the answers and can pass the info along.
The only odd thing was being in three condos and not on top of each other......odd but nice.

I think we all look smashing!
