OHHHH October

October is here. I always look at it as the official start of fall....I expect the crisp weather, I want to put the yard away, I get to make homemade goodies and comfort foods....AND I love it because it begins with October General Conference!
I need Conference by the first of October. I need to be regenerated and reignited spiritually. This will be a great and busy weekend.
-------------------------------------
Also this weekend it is BHS Homecoming. The Football game tonight and the Dance tomorrow. Since it is Priesthood meeting as well on Saturday night we have Hayden and his friends coming to our house for dinner before the dance, immediately following priesthood meeting. I am so glad that the majority of the boys at the school didn't even consider missing the priesthood session of conference because it was the dance. the boys I have talked with are either doing dinner like Hayden's group is at someones home right after Priesthood meeting or going out to a restaurant around 4:00 before priesthood meeting. It is nice to know that these guys are honoring their privilege and responsibility.

Bring on the weekend and the month

It's Autumn Time!

It is officially fall, but it feels like summer still. Sunday in nursery I began teaching songs about fall; sing the fall songs and changing words to songs so they were fall type words. My Favorite is sung to Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree......I looked out the window and what did I see? Leaves are falling from the Apricot tree.......I can take a rake and can make a pile, one so big it will make you smile. Then I'll jump on it cause it's so much fun you see, when leaves are falling from the apricot tree. The kids love it too because I have them stand and sing so they get to rake and jump.
I enjoy fall because it is still warm during the day and crisp at night and in the early morning. We walk in the morning still and the crisp air is the best. When we start I think should I have worn a jacket...some days I do others I don't because when I do by the time we are on the return home I am too hot. The crisp air also makes me want to make soup, warm yummy comfort foods and pies and cobblers......I know it always goes back to food.
It is no secret Autumn time is my favorite season of the year.....There is a definite change in nature, from the plants to the weather. We go from nice and warm to cold in 3 months. I like the back to school time, it is always a new beginning regardless of age. Fall has my favorite sports FOOTBALL and the end of Baseball season...the play offs and world series.
Fall is also like spring in the cleaning and organizing way.... I always have a few project that I want done before Thanksgiving. My projects are well underway.....I unfortunately didn't account for the need/want to paint the closets as they are cleaned out before they are re loaded...oh well. I guess after 15 years a new coat of paint is important....and they won't need to painted again for another 15 years....maybe by then the kids will do it form me...as in "Let's help grandma out and paint her closets for her." I can wish!

Back To School

Today I handed out the costume plots to the high school cast of West Side Story....that means school has begun. Hayden reminded me that he has been at football for a month now, so for him with his two big activities definitely underway, school has started.
I love when the school year starts and not just because the kids go back to school for the day and I am free. The beginning of the school year has always signaled a new year for me, a time to begin again. When I was in school I knew the slate was clean, I could begin again, I could set new goals and be a better student or what ever than I previously had been.....the school is starting new, goal setting mentality still exist for me that is one of the reasons I love this time of year. The other things associated with the new school year that I also love are:.... I love to shop for school supplies...the markers, crayons, fancy pads of paper, pens, etc.....The excitement of back to school shopping, new cloths, meeting up with friends you missed during the summer months. I love the back to school autumn activities, the sports, carnivals, fairs, farmers markets etc.......and yes, I'm ready for some football. The Fall season its self is the best part of this time of year for me, it's my favorite.....everything has bloomed and matured, the harvest has begun, the world has a beautiful golden glow about it. The weather is usually not to hot during the day and the cool nights are just right. The sights, sounds, smells and feel of autumn makes me happy.
I know, I know, it is still officially summer for another two months, but my anticipation of this wonderful season is so much fun for me.
Lots to do...off to harvest from my own garden....we get a few things out of it and I have learned a lot this year about what to do differently next, but it's all good..... Maybe I will can a few things this year too....yes, another wonderful thing about fall.
